hostas, hostas, hostas....

Well, today is the day I'll begin planting some hostas. I'm not much of a gardener but something needs to be done to give some life to our backyard! I will be planting hostas around two sides of our deck. From a gardening connoisseur, where I got the hostas from, I was told that August is the best time to replant the bunches. Guess I lucked out!! I was also told to plant them, and cut all the leaves off so the roots grow strong this year, the plant will be a smaller plant the next year, and the following year big healthy plants will exist!

Here is one side of the deck that will hopefully become a little more appealing as the day goes on.

I found this site useful. http://ohioline.osu.edu/hyg-fact/1000/1239.html

I pulled all the hostas out and spaced them pretty evenly along the two sides of the deck. All that's left is to plant them, cut all the leaves off. They are in pretty big bunches here. I will be splitting all the bundles so the number of plants will double in size, they'll be planted closer together, and hopefully look much more full next year.
